Articles and insights
Perspectives on the energy transition.
In this section, we share articles, case studies, and insights from across OX2. From renewable energy trends to lessons from our projects, our aim is to contribute to the conversation and share what we’re learning as we help accelerate the shift to sustainable energy.

Efforts to reverse biodiversity loss and increase climate resilience have led to OX2 focusing on practical action across multiple project sites: reviewing the location, dimension and design of culverts.

Construction of the Niinimäki Wind Farm in Pieksämäki, Finland, began in 2022, with turbine assembly starting at the end of September 2023. All turbines have now reached pre-assembly height, and the first five have been erected to their full height of 250 meters. Once complete, the wind farm will feature 22 turbines with a total capacity of more than 145 megawatts.

In connection with the development of onshore wind farms, OX2 has taken the initiative to restore and protect forest ecosystems.

With construction now underway at OX2's first project in Australia, the SEC Renewable Energy Park - Horsham, health and safety is a top priority. Prabakar Kumar, or PK, joined OX2 as HSE Manager in September 2024. He brings valuable experience to the project and to the team, most recently from a similar role at Vestas.

This film shows the different stages in the construction of an onshore wind farm – from planning and groundwork to fully installed turbines generating electricity.

Catherine Way joined OX2 Australia as Director of Development in March 2024. She and the Australian team have secured an onshore wind project in Western Australia, with a planned capacity of up to 1 GW. In this interview, she discusses what makes Western Australia an attractive location, project specifics, and what’s next for OX2’s wind expansion in Australia.

The greenhouse gas emissions from our projects mainly come from materials, land use, and construction activities. Technological advancements in the industry enables a reduction of our climate impact. OX2 welcomes these technological advancements and hope that best practice in short will be common practice.

To build an onshore wind farm in Sweden, developers must obtain an environmental permit from the County Administrative Board’s Environmental Assessment Delegation. This film outlines the permitting process.

In connection with OX2’s construction of the Niinimäki wind farm in Pieksämäki municipality in Finland, OX2 have together with partners taken the initiative to increase biodiversity by restoring the streams where the endangered brown lake trout live.
