The Kröpuln and Storbacken wind farms, built by the renewable energy company OX2, have been commissioned and handed over to the European investment fund Infracapital. The total capacity of the wind farms is 60 MW, and the combined annual electricity production is approximately 200 GWh.

In August 2019, OX2 and Infracapital signed an agreement to build two wind farms with a total of 14 wind turbines in Finland. Kröpuln wind farm was built in the city of Uusikaarlepyy and Storbacken wind farm in the municipality of Vöyri. Both wind farms have now been commissioned.

"We are delighted that both wind farms have now finalised construction and did so to plan. This is Infracapital's second investment in Finland and is a major step in addressing the investment requirement for sustainable energy in Finland going forward", says Michele Armanini, Managing Director at Infracapital.

"We are very satisfied with the quality of work and close cooperation with local stakeholders. During the construction, local businesses have been an invaluable help to us, for example, in cabling and earthworks, as well as in accommodation and catering services," says Jommi Tervo, Project Manager at OX2, who was responsible for the construction of wind farms.

OX2 delivered the wind farms to Infracapital as turnkey projects and will continue to be responsible for the technical and commercial management of them.

"Our good cooperation with Infracapital continues during the operation phase as we will take care of the commercial management, optimization of production, and daily operation and safety of the wind farms. We will also continue as the main partner for local stakeholders such as landowners, municipalities and subcontractors," says Niko Blomberg from OX2, who is responsible for managing the wind farms.

The Kröpuln and Storbacken wind farms will generate approximately EUR 320,000 in real estate tax for Uusikaarlepyy and Vöyri every year. The wind farms are expected to produce 200 GWh per year, which corresponds to the electricity consumption for 40,000 households (5,000 kWh/household).

During operations the Kröpuln and Storbacken wind farms will replace around 97 000 Tons of CO2 emissions annually compared to electricity produced by fossil fuels in Finland.*
