OX2 marks five years of activity in Romania, growing from one employee and one project in 2021 to a local team of nearly 30 professionals and a renewable energy portfolio of more than 1.5 GW.

“Five years ago, we started with one employee and one project. Today, we have built a strong local team, trusted partnerships and the capability to deliver several complex projects in parallel," says Lăcrămioara Diaconu-Pințea, Country Manager, OX2 Romania.

During this period, OX2 has expanded across the full project lifecycle – from development, permitting and grid connection to commercial structuring, financing, construction and asset management.

Key milestones include Green Breeze (99.2 MW), the first OX2 project in Romania to reach commercial operation, while Ansthall (96 MW) and Urleasca (77 MW) are now progressing through construction. OX2’s Romanian portfolio includes onshore wind, solar and battery energy storage, with approximately 600 MW under construction or approaching construction and around 1 GW in development.

“Five years ago, we started with one employee and one project. Today, we have built a strong local team, trusted partnerships and the capability to deliver several complex projects in parallel. More than the size of our portfolio, this ability to deliver is what defines our progress in Romania,” said Lăcrămioara Diaconu-Pințea, Country Manager, OX2 Romania.

The company has also invested in building local expertise. For more than three years, OX2 has collaborated with Politehnica University of Bucharest offering long-term internships to students and master’s students, with two former interns already joining the company as full-time employees.

Looking ahead, OX2 plans to continue converting its development portfolio into projects under construction and operation, while expanding across wind, solar and energy storage and further strengthening its local team and partnerships.

“The next five years will be about turning more of our portfolio into operating renewable energy assets. That requires strong teams, investors, banks, authorities, suppliers and communities working together. This is how we intend to continue growing in Romania,” added Lăcrămioara Diaconu-Pințea.
