A proposito del progetto

The Pohjasuo solar power project is located in the municipality of Mikkeli Etelä-Savo region, Finland.

The planned capacity of the project is 80 MW. Once completed, the annual energy production of the solar farm is estimated to be approximately 80 GWh, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of almost 16,000 households (5,000 kWh per household).

An environmental survey was completed in 2023–2024 to thoroughly study the impacts of the project on the environment. In addition, supplementary nature surveys were carried out in 2025 in relation to changes to the power line route. The project has undergone environmental impact assessment (EIA) screening. According to the decision of the ELY Centre in May 2024, the project does not require an EIA procedure. 

What’s next? 

In early summer 2025, the City of Mikkeli made decisions on the project planning requirement and building permit applications. These decisions became legally binding in July 2025. The next step in the project is the general planning of the transmission line, which will take about a year.
