About the project
Located in Nummijärvi in Kauhajoki, South Ostrobothnia, the Aurinkonevat solar power project is one of the largest solar power projects being planned in Finland. The project area, which covers around 600 hectares, is mainly an old peat extraction area.
The project aims for an estimated total installed capacity of 500 MW. When completed, the solar power plant will have an estimated annual energy production of 538 GWh, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of around 108,000 households (5,000 KWh/household).
What’s next?
The planning of the project is underway. The aim is to have the investment decision to build the project by the end of 2026 and for construction work to begin in 2027. The solar power farm is estimated to start operating in 2028.
