About the project

Energy storage is expected to play a key role in the electricity system of the future, which is why OX2 has started developing battery storage projects (Battery Energy Storage System, BESS) in parallel with our operations in wind and solar power. Project "Bredhälla BESS" is a battery storage facility with a capacity of approximately 40 MW and is located near two of OX2’s ongoing wind power projects.

The project is located in Uppvidinge municipality, approximately 7.5 km south of Åseda in the southeast of Sweden, and directly adjacent to E.ON's substation. The project will deliver ancillary services to Svenska Kraftnät, the state-owned transmission system operator, and thus help stabilize the electricity grid. By storing electricity (arbitrage) when there is a surplus and selling when there is a shortage of electricity in the grid, the project contributes to increased security in the electricity supply in southern Sweden.
