About the project

The Kattiharju wind power project is located in the municipalities of Isokyrö and Laihia, Finland.

The project comprises 16 wind turbines, 14 of which are located in Isokyrö and two in Laihia. The wind farm will be connected to the transmission grid via Fingrid's Kivisaari substation, which is located next to the project area.

The component master plans and environmental permits are final. You can find the final component master plans (in Finnish) on the Isokyrö municipality website here and on the Laiha municipality website here.

The project underwent an environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure in 2013–2015.

The Kattiharju project was transferred to OX2 for development in December 2025. OX2 is responsible for finalizing the project's development work and taking it through the construction phase to production. Prokon Wind Energy Finland Oy was responsible for the project's previous development work.

What’s next?

The next step in the project is to prepare for the construction decision.

Our responsibillity

OX2 and our suppliers are guests in the local communities. For us, is extremely important to create dialogue with and show respect for the people who live and work in the local area. This includes transparent communication, creating local jobs, business sector development or financial grants through community funds or property tax, depending on the market and conditions in the area.

The expansion of renewable energy should not come at the expense of nature and it is not enough for us to mitigate climate change. We have long worked to minimize our negative impact on nature and are now taking decisive action towards our goal of nature-positive wind and solar farms by 2030.

Our projects are sustainable by design, from early planning to construction and management.

Assessments have been conducted to the Kannisto project, to ensure that human rights are secured and climate change risks are considered. Project is excecuted according to the OX2 sustainability strategy and our subcontractors are obligated to follow our code of conduct for suppliers. Risks that were identified are considered in technical design and procurement. We conduct audits to our contractors regularly. By doing so, we ensure that our projects are prepared to the risks that climate change can cause, like heavy precipitation and wildfires, and human rights are not violated.

Grievance and complaints

The grievance mechanism is targeted towards individuals, communities and companies who have feedback or concerns regarding our projects.

OX2 takes all complaints seriously and aims to acknowledge and resolve complaints promptly. A complaint is a formal expression of dissatisfaction made to or about OX2, related to its project development, construction, operation, or a staff member.

We acknowledge that anyone has a right to lodge a complaint and we will ensure that all the complaints we receive will be managed respectfully, objectively, and efficiently.
