Solar energy
Töreboda, Sweden
OX2 AB is developing a large-scale, ground-based solar park in the vicinity of Moholm in Töreboda municipality, Västra Götaland county, in collaboration with concerned landowners. The project covers up to 190 hectares of land and, when fully developed, will be able to produce approximately 190 GWh of electricity per year from renewable solar energy.
During 2022 and 2023, preparatory surveys and investigations of the conditions in and around the project area have been carried out. The permit process began in the spring of 2023 through consultation with both authorities and the public. An environmental impact statement has been produced, which was included in the application for a voluntary environmental permit that was submitted to the County Administrative Board in Västra Götaland in 2024. The application is still being processed by the authority. OX2 assesses that a permit decision will come in 2025.
In parallel with the ongoing permit process, OX2 investigates, together with the network owner in the relevant area, how the planned solar park should be connected to the existing electricity grid. In addition, certain investigations of the conditions in the project area are underway, with the aim of mapping soil conditions, etc. The timetable for establishing the solar park in Moholm is currently unclear, as it depends on the ongoing permit review and grid connection process. OX2 currently assesses that the solar park can be established and ready for operation in 2027 at the earliest.
