O projekcie

The Pohjasuo solar power project is located in the municipality of Mikkeli Etelä-Savo region, Finland.

The planned capacity of the project is 80 MW. Once completed, the annual energy production of the solar farm is estimated to be approximately 80 GWh, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of almost 16,000 households (5,000 kWh per household).

An environmental survey was completed in 2023-2024 to thoroughly study the impacts of the project on the environment. In addition, the project has undergone environmental impact assessment (EIA) screening. According to the decision of the ELY Centre in May 2024, the project does not require an EIA procedure. 

What’s next? 

The project planning and building permit applications were submitted to the City of Mikkeli for processing in December 2024. The next step in the project is the general planning of the transmission line, which will take about a year. 

The aim is to have the investment decision to build the project in 2026 and for construction work to begin in the same year. The solar power farm is estimated to start operating in 2029.
